From "Wanderlust"

A Minor Slip Jig [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Martha Stokely, 2006
This tune has a wistful feeling to it, like taking a walk and thinking back on things. Anne & Deb improved it by suggesting the change from AABB to AAB.

Doctor Who Pirate Jig [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Martha Stokely, 2006
Dance composers: Sharon Green [Dance Instructions], Richard Sauvain [Dance Instructions] & Don Theyken independently created enjoyable dances that work well with this fun, moderate speed jig.
I used a snippet from the theme music for Doctor Who and ended up creating a pirate jig. Extra credit for those of you who know the BBC show and can pick out the influence.

Hornpipe in g minor [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Martha Stokely, 2006
Dance composer: Gary Roodman wrote a beautiful, advanced dance for this tune. Ann Arbor Hornpipe is included in "Even Odder Calculated Figures" (published Dec 2009)
This is one of my first compositions and one of my favorites so far. You will notice that this is a baroque hornpipe rather than a jaunty sailor's hornpipe. Since I like St. Margaret's Hill, I decided to write a g minor 3/2 tune of my own.

The Quizzical Snob [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Martha Stokely, 2006
Dance composer: Sharon Green is writing a dance for this tune.
This has the same basic form and general character as The Physical Snob with a few quirks. The original title was Slip Jig a la Physical Snob, but our sound engineer jokingly called it the Quizzical Snob and it stuck.

Spring Sprightly [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Martha Stokely, 2006
Dance composer: Gary Roodman wrote a dance for this tune. Good Man of Antwerp is included in "Even Odder Calculated Figures" (published Dec 2009)
This is a catchy tune with a Renaissance feel. I like the contrast between the rhythmic sprightliness and the minor key.

Wanderlust [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Anne Ogren, 2007
A fast waltz in a minor with latin influences. It ventures into lots of different keys and then happily returns home.

Westaire Court [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Debbie Jackson, 2004
Dance Composer: Joseph Pimentel [Dance Instructions]
Cheerful and charming 2/4 tune in C major written in honor of Ray Bantle and Marge Cramton who live on Westaire Court.

From "Early Instincts"

Emma's Commencement [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Debbie Jackson, 2003
Dance composer: Alan Vlach
Debbie wrote this tune to fit the dance Alan Vlach created to celebrate Emma Murray's high school graduation.

Nocturne in f minor [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Debbie Jackson, 2002
Dance composer: Gary Roodman created a dance called "Unionville Square" for this tune.
Rich with harmonies and countermelodies, this has a Chopin-like feel.

Richard's Reminder [PDF] [Listen]
Composer: Debbie Jackson, 1998
Dance composer: Gary Roodman created a dance called "Whately Barn" for this tune.
Debbie wrote this 3/2 tune to commemorate her stunning event at one of Ann Arbor's lively Tuesday night English country dances at Chapel Hill.
